Disney-Inspired Dinner Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s is just around the corner and we have compiled a list of recipes you can make at home to make your date more special! Enjoy a full-course meal full of Disney inspired dishes from your Disney Classics to indulge with your loved ones!

 

Appetizer: Tomato Canape from Beauty and the Beast
Remember the scene where Belle was greeted by Lumiere and Cogsworth when she came out to eat? Here’s an easy and simple recipe that’s sure to start the course.

Yields: 2-3 People
Preparation Time: 5-10 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh basil
  • 3/4 cup  tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoon  onions
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons bacon pieces
Procedure: 
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F. 
  2. Place the diced tomatoes in a colander.
  3. Sprinkle the onions, basil and Seasoning, and toss to coat. 
  4. Stir together the mozzarella and mayonnaise. 
  5. Frost the top of each shell with 1 teaspoon of the mayonnaise mixture. 
  6. Sprinkle each shell with 1/4 teaspoon of bacon pieces. 
  7. Bake the filled shells for 10 to 12 minutes. 
  8. Serve hot.

 

Side Dish: Ratatouille from Ratatouille
The iconic dish from the movie ratatouille is a way to impress your loved one not only with its delicious taste but signature pattern of perfectly cooked vegetables! 

Yields: 2-3 People
Preparation Time: 60-90 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 2 eggplants
  • 6 tomato baguio
  • 2 yellow camote
  • 2 zucchinis
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red bell pepper
  • salt and pepper
  • can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil 
  • Your favorite Italian herb seasoning
Procedure: 
  1. Slice the eggplant, tomatoes, camote, and zucchini into approx. ¹⁄₁₆-inch  rounds
  2. Heat the olive oil in a 12-inch  pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Sauté the onion, garlic, and bell peppers until soft
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then add the crushed tomatoes. 
  5. Add the basil. 
  6. Arrange the sliced veggies in alternating patterns on top of the sauce from the outer edge to the middle of the pan. 
  7. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 40 minutes. 
  8. Uncover, then bake for another 20 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
  9. Serve hot.

 


Main Dish: Roast Chicken from Brave
Here’s a simple and easy yet mouth watering roast chicken recipe for your main dish! While you prepare the other dishes, this dish will take most of its time in the oven, hassle-free! 

Yields: 2-5 People
Preparation Time: 90-120 minutes 
Ingredients:
  • 1 (3 pound) whole chicken, giblets removed
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder, or to taste
  • ½ cup margarine, divided
  • 1 stalk celery, leaves removed
Procedure: 
  1. Place chicken in a roasting pan, and season generously inside and out with dry seasonings
  2. Bake uncovered 1 hour and 15 minutes in the preheated oven, to 82 degrees C
  3. Remove from heat, and baste with melted margarine and drippings.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil, and allow to rest about 30 minutes before serving.

 

Dessert: Beignets from Princess and the Frog

To end the course, here’s the iconic Beignets from the Princess and the Frog! The delicious and sweet fried pastry is a great way to end the course. Most of the time to prepare will be for the dough to rise, that gives you more time to prepare on the other dishes! 

Yields: 2-5 People
Preparation Time: 120-150 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2  1/4 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 7 cups bread flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter
Procedure: 
  1. Beat the eggs, vanilla  evaporated milk, and flour until smooth. 
  2. Add yeast mixture and beat until smooth. 
  3. Add butter and beat until incorporated. 
  4. Beat until the dough is smooth. Cover bowl for 2-24 hours.
  5. Roll and cut dough into 2 and 1/2-inch squares.
  6. In batches, fry the dough until golden brown in color.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve at once!
